Almost all of my photos are taken in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, mostly at Copacabana, Leme, Ipanema, Leblon and RIo de Janeiro Downtown. Occasionally I go to Região dos Lagos where there are a lot of beautiful places and beaches like Forno and Geribá, in Búzios, Anjos or Pontal do Atalaia in Arraial do Cabo. Most of my photos I take with a Canon 7D, an Olympus Digital E-510 SLR and also a n Olympus point-and-shoot with very good results. People say I have a "good eye". Ricardo Serpa, a brazilian photographer living in USA, said me I do "Miksang" photography. Miksang is a Tibetan word that translates as "Good Eye". I'ts some kind of contemplative photography, based on the Shambhala and Dharma Art teachings of the late meditation master, artist, and scholar Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche. I really don´t know him or what this really means. I just look around and if an image touch my soul, I take it. So,
it's difficult to answer what kind of photographs do I take. It's more
easy tell what I don't photograph: posed portraits or violence scenes.
I want my pictures to inspire, whatever way that means to you. "we
photograph what we see and what we see depends on what we are".,
said José Medeiros (1921-1990), one of the most important brazilian
photojournalist. |
